Murray Stein
Murray Stein was the founder of PointSource Communications in 1991. Murray continues to provide high-level communications services within PointSource and is responsible for management and development of projects that include core marketing product and program activities.Prior to founding PointSource, Murray was a Systems Engineering Manager, Regional Systems Engineer, and Senior Product Manager at Sun Microsystems. At Sun, Murray was responsible for graphics and window system products and their integration (corporate marketing), and formanagement of field technical staff in New Mexico and Northern Colorado. Other relevant experience includes product marketing and management activities for Autodesk Australia, software development at Martin-Marietta (control systems), and numerous other software development and analysis positions. Murray attended the University of Arizona, where he earned degrees in Physics and Mathematics. He is a member of the IEEE, ACM, and Society for Technical Communications.

Margaret Bierman
Margaret Bierman is a PointSource Project Lead, Editor, and Senior Writer and trainer. Prior to beginning her work for Sun in 1993, she spent over 8 years working on optical storage technologies for companies including Hewlett Packard and Interactive Systems. During that time, Margaret specialized in developing cross-platform file systems, hierarchical storage management systems, device drivers and controller firmware. Margaret was also heavily involved in related standards committees, as well as training ISVs and helping them implement solutions. She received a B.S. in Computational Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Eric Liefeld
Eric Liefeld works as a PointSource Project Lead, Editor, and Senior Writer. Previously Eric was a Sun Systems Engineer in New Mexico for six years supporting government, military, and commercial customers. At Sun Eric specialized in graphics, multimedia and networking technologies and was involved with helping customers transition to the Solaris 2 Operating Environment. Prior to working for Sun, Eric managed a UNIX support and system administration center at New Mexico State University where he received a BS with honors in Computer Science.

Kathleen Rollin
Kat Rollin is a PointSource Project Lead, Editor, and Senior Writer. Kat spent over 10 years working for Sun as a Systems Engineer in New York City, covering Fortune 500 commercial and financial customers in nearly every market segment. In order tomeet the demanding requirements and facilitate sales to these customers, Kat frequently worked closely with Sun's marketing and engineering groups to help shape products to their needs. At Sun, Kat specialized in graphics, multimedia, the introduction of Java, Web technologies, high availability, and thin client deployment on trading floors. Prior to her career at Sun, Kat worked for eight years as a systems engineer at NBI, Inc. She has worked on under-graduate studies in Graphic Arts and Computer Science at Colorado State University, Front Range Community College, New York University, and Hunter College.

Ginny Henningsen
Ginny Henningsen is a PointSource Project Lead and Senior Writer. Ginny spent over 9 years working for Sun as a Systems Engineer in King of Prussia, PA and Milwaukee, WI, supporting large OEM, technical, and government customers.Ginny's support efforts included transitioning customers to the Solaris 2 Operating Environment, developing non-interactive Solaris installations, and application and system performance analysis and tuning. At Sun, Ginny had a special technical focus on system architectures, imaging and visualization, and operating system features. Prior to her career at Sun, Ginny worked as a systems engineer and technical publications editor at Tektronix. She received a BA in Technical Writing from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MS in Computer Science from Villanova University.

Suzanne Zorn
Suzanne Zorn works as a freelance technical writer, course developer, and trainer, primarily for PointSource Communications. Suzanne has developed classes for clustering/high availability, disk storage hardware and software, and system administration. Previously Suzanneworked for Sun Microsystems as a consultant in their Professional Services division, specializing in system configuration and planning. Prior to working at Sun, Suzanne worked as a software engineer at General Electric Corporate Research and Development and NBC. Suzanne graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from Bucknell University and received a MS in Computer Science from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute.

Steve Gaede
Steve Gaede works as a freelance technical writer, consultant, and technology specialist, and develops numerous documents each year on behalf of PointSource. Previously, Steve was employed by Amdahl Corp., Bell Laboratories, Cray Laboratories, NBI, Inc., and Software Design & Analysis Inc. Steve has extensive UNIX performance evaluation experience from U.C. Berkeley and Bell Laboratories, where his capacity measurement techniques have set a standard for more than two decades — and since 1991 have been part of the SPEC Software Development Multi-tasking (SDM) benchmark suite. His UNIX kernel-level work at NBI, Inc. lead him to the development of a comprehensive set of hardware and software tools for evaluating and improving UNIX-based application performance. Steve's experience was keyin his work establishing tools and benchmarks for multimedia server performance projects with his technical consulting company, Lone Eagle Systems. Steve is active in the Boulder professional community, and has been a coordinator of the Front Range UNIX Users Group since1984. Steve received his B.S.E in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan and his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Nancy Barnes
Nancy Barnes works as a freelance technical writer, primarily for PointSource Communications. Nancy spent 7 years working for Sun as a Systems Engineer in New York City, supporting large systems integrators, primarily in their web hosting and data center practices.  Prior to that, Nancy worked for a consulting firm evaluating disaster recovery planning and delivering business process re-engineering to pharmaceutical customers.  Nancy spent 10 years at Digital Equipment where she did consulting and pre-sales support. She has a Bachelor of Science in Music Performance from New York University.

Joyce Mueller
Joyce Mueller works as a freelance technical writer, primarily for PointSource Communications. During her 10 years as a Systems Engineer for Sun Microsystems, Joyce served many education, government, and commercial customers. Joyce assisted clients with the design and deployment of various IT projects including server consolidation, manufacturing, Enterprise Resource Planning, and E-commerce. Prior to her career at Sun, Joyce was a Systems Engineer for IBM Federal Systems. At IBM, Joyce contributed to the pursuit and fulfillment of large government contracts. Joyce earned her Engineering degree from the Department of Computer Science at Michigan State University.

Jamie Enns
Jamie Enns works as a freelance IT product marketing consultant and writer. Jamie has over thirty years experience at Sun Microsystems, Digital Equipment Corp., Hewlett-Packard, as well as several Silicon Valley start-ups. He specializes in product marketing and strategic marketing of high-end data center systems, high-availability and business continuance, storage systems, and technical high performance computing systems. During the past five years, Jamie has focused on developing and marketing usage-based purchasing models for servers at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard. In addition, he has spent eight years developing computer science courseware and teaching in both academia and industry. Jamie has an Electronics degree from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Dani Flexer
Dani Flexer is a software consultant, architect and writer with 25 years of industry experience. Dani began his career in compiler and software tools development, spent time developing software for avionic system testing, voice-store-and-forward, cardiac catheterization,and low-latency securities trading. In between he spent time consulting to various software and hardware firms in a range of business/technical and technical areas. More recently he spent a while in Sun Microsystem's technology partnering organization as an engineer, manager and business development manager furthering the cause of the adoption of Sun technology by software vendors in Europe and the Middle-East. Currently he consults in the UK market on datacenter optimization with an emphasis on optimal power utilization and writes technical marketing documents. Dani is based in London, UK.

Kathy Abelson
Kathy Abelson works as a freelance technical writer, primarily for PointSource Communications. Previously, Kathy worked as a technical writer at Cadence Design Systems, specializing in documentation for low power integrated circuit design software. She also spent four years as a technical writer at Sun Microsystems. Kathy also has extensive experience in marketing communications and public relations for high-tech companies, primarily in the electronic design automation industry. She received her BA in Physics from the University of California - Santa Cruz.

Charlie Martin
Charlie Martin is a software architect and writer with 40 years of industry experience, beginning with the IBM System/3, and an MS in Computer Science with additional concentrations in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from Duke university. He has over 100 fiction and non-fiction publications in journals, industry publications, general-interest magazines and web sites, and literary magazines. Charlie is also a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists. He has been a Senior Java Architect, and then Senior Staff Engineer (storage) with Sun Microsystems, and his consulting clients have included Wall Street firms, TRW, General Dynamics, DARPA, and the Department of the Navy.

Cheryl Hale
Cheryl Hale works as a freelance technology marketing writer and consultant. In previous positions as vice president of marketing for search technology provider MuseGlobal and director of professional services marketing for Sun Microsystems, Cheryl has performed a wide range of activities encompassing branding, product strategy and launch, marketing communications, event management, press/analyst relations, partner management, and demand creation programs. She has also held information systems management and operations positions with Sun, Deloitte, and Bank of America. She began her career with technical writing positions in the electronics and software industries. She earned a B.S. degree with a double major in Agriculture and Journalism from California Polytechnic State University, and her M.S. in Mass Communications from San Jose State University.

Robert Hodge
Robert Hodge manages a firm he founded in 1990 that develops a wide variety of custom software solutions primarily for high-technology manufacturers. Robert has experience on a wide range of hardware and software platforms.  He specializes in graphical presentation and analysis of real-time data. Robert received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arizona. 

John Hodge
John Hodge provides graphic illustration services for PointSource Communications. He has twelve years experience working with various professional graphics applications, primarily related to producing content for technical and business presentations and white papers. John worked previously with computer hardware, building and repairing personal computers, and spent three years as a Lab Assistant and tutor in computer technology and mathematics. He holds Certificates in Technology from San Jacinto College in Computer Programming, Networking, and Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection.

Deborah Craven
Deborah Craven is a 15 year veteran of the design community with extensive experience in all aspects of graphic arts and publishing. Her work has helped to integrate the technical insights or her customers with artistic interpretation that delivers client messages in a clear and concise manner. After receiving her B.F.A. from Colorado State University, she took a position as Art Director at CadWare Alliance, a start-up software design company. She then moved to CTSi, a marketing company specializing in cable industry communications. Today, Deb shares her artistic talent and experience with new designers. In her position as Program Coordinator for the Front Range Community College's Boulder County Campus, Multimedia Graphic Design program, she teaches typography, graphic design, and courses geared toward effective use of today's high-end graphic design software packages.

Heidi Eckert
Heidi Eckert is a freelance designer and graphics artist with 14 years of graphic design experience. She prepares print and Web-based graphic designs, having designed and implemented complete collateral packages for clients from initial comps to final print production. She designs and develops Web sites for clients, working through the discovery, artistic design, and production phases. She regularly illustrates technical marketing materials and has designed and delivered numerous direct mail pieces, trade-press and Web advertisements, and company newsletters. Heidi has worked in multiple capacities for a variety of clients, including consultants, software companies, book publishers, and Web production firms. Her substantial body of work includes promotional materials for technical book advertising, brochures, catalogs, trade publication ads, and many other items. Heidi's Web development experience includes front-end portals and complex e-commerce Web sites. During development, she coordinated front and back-end development teams, leveraging her knowledge of HTML and back-end software to overcome technical challenges and bring sites to on-time launches. Heidi holds a B.A. in Economics and Marketing from the University of St. Thomas.

Cynthia Saunders
Cynthia Saunders works as a freelance technical writer, with over fifteen years of experience writing about computing technologies including operating systems, servers, Java, C, C++, security systems, end-user applications, and semiconductor inspection equipment. Cynthiaworked as a technical writer for Unisys Corporation for five years developing manuals, online demos, and online help, earning a certificate of achievement by the Society of Technical Communications for an Operating System Installation and Configuration Guide. Overthe last ten years, Cynthia has worked as a freelance writer for PointSource Communications, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and several smaller companies creating marketing collateral, presentations, Web copy, trade show papers, and manuals. Cynthia has a Bachelor of Arts in English from California State University Northridge.

Note: Assignments to specific individuals is subject to availability and scope of individual project. PointSource may, at its discretion, assign other writers with suitable qualifications.
